The Client

01. The Client

The team responsible for security at the 2010 FIFA World Cup were spread all over South Africa at different venues protecting a wide variety of high-profile people and organisations during the tournament. Their main function was to deal with multi-level security requirements from the physical security at the different tournament venues to close protection of VIP's.

The Challenge

02. The Challenge

The team needed a way of collaborating with each other across the country whilst collaborating with staff at the UK HQ continuously. The team needed an IT system that could be rapidly deployed to anywhere in the world with new user accounts set up at short notice as their requirements changed. They needed the information they created to be accessible securely from any location whilst also being able to share information with the staff back at HQ in the UK.

The Solution

03. The Solution

Extrinsica Nomad rapidly deployed the teams IT functionality via the Extrinsica Global cloud platform based in the UK which meant each member of the team had all the applications and email functionality they needed to collaborate wherever they were in the country at any time. The Nomad system also synchronised any changes to data to the corporate repository back at HQ in the UK.

The Outcome

04. The Outcome

The Team had outstandingly available IT facilities and the parent company was able to control all of the data required and produced by the team on the ground. The data was always secure in a UK-based data centre even when it was being used by the Team in South Africa so was never vulnerable to loss or theft.

The Nomad service ensured that the team were as efficient and responsive as they needed to be in such a high-profile role whilst keeping their critical data secure.
